Slow start costs Nashua-Plainfield boys

If there’s one lesson Justin Eiffler wants his young Huskies to take from the 2016-17 season, it is this: Slow starts are costly.  The Huskies re-learned that lesson again last week in a 61-45 loss to North Butler and to a lesser degree on Monday in a 68-47 loss to St. Ansgar that dropped Nashua-Plainfield to 6-13 overall and 4-11 in Top of Iowa Conference play.  “We need to come out ready to go from the tip,” said Eiffler, whose team dug itself a 29-10 first-half hole against North Butler before putting together a solid second half.     “We can't keep digging ourselves a hole. When we do, we fight hard to dig out, and just run out of time and energy,”  Nashua-Plainfield used a balanced attack in the game against the Bearcats as Mitchell Malven and Dayton Hansen scored 12 points apiece and Dawson Schmitt added 11.   “It was good to see,” Eiffler said of Malven’s season-high point total. “He works hard.  More on the story may be found in the Feb. 8 Reporter.
