Senior night for Trojan volleyball

Lead Summary

Kassidy Reicks says her Turkey Valley volleyball team is a work in progress.    However, there’s not a lot of time left in the season for that work to be finished.    “Yeah, I know,” said the Trojan senior after a 3-0 loss to Starmont Tuesday. “But we’re learning to work together, read each other so we know what the other person is going to do and trust each other. Our blocking was awesome tonight, but against this team....it’s hard.”    The Stars came into the night ranked fourth in Class 1A and with a 7-0 conference record, leads the Upper Iowa. They are 21-6 overall.    “They’re one of the best teams in the state, I think,” said Reicks.    After starting with a 25-4 loss, the Trojans steadily improved, but still lost the second set 25-9.    The attitude of Reicks changed in the third game. In the first set she was a bit intimidated by the Stars.    “In the third set, I knew this was our senior game and we just had to go out and hit hard.”    An ace by Ashton Kout put Turkey Valley up 11-10 in the third, but Starmont had their own hard hitters and pulled away.
