Season comes to an end for the N-P girls
When Nashua-Plainfield’s girls basketball season came to an end last Thursday with a 48-29 loss to North Butler in the Class 1A regional tournament, Huskies coach Josh Smith had two messages for his team.
“I told them the will was definitely there,” he said, “but we have to make some significant strides with our skills so that we can do those things — hit open shots, take care of the basketball better, rebound — that win you games. But I was really proud of the effort they gave us. We didn’t lose because of a lack of effort.”
The Huskies opened the regional tournament two days after dropping their final regular season game of the year by a 41-27 score to Eagle Grove, and for the most part, Smith got what he wanted from his team.
“The second game [of the regular season], we just didn’t rebound at all and gave them like 24 second-chance points,” he said.
