Sean Richard Slick age 32 of Fredericksburg, IA, formerly of Alta Vista, IA, died Tuesday, August 4, 2020, from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.

Sean Richard Slick was born on February 10, 1988, to Loren and Carmela (Kolbet) Slick in Iowa City. He was the second of the couple’s four children and grew up in New Hampton until he was 8 when the family moved to Alta Vista.
Sean was a quiet boy, but he loved hanging out with his Grandpa Slick and his dad, especially when they were working on engines. From an early age, he had a knack for being able to look at an engine and not only tell you what was wrong with it but also how to fix it.
He loved to “pick” at his mother, and Carmela always knew her son was going to give her a little grief when he flashed that mischievous smile.
Sean attended schools in New Hampton, and he was a member of the New Hampton High School Class of 2006.
Even before he graduated from high school, though, Sean knew he wanted to be a mechanic, and he was self-taught in diesel mechanics. He began working at Southside Truck Parts as a teenager and then accepted a job at Loyal Transport. Sean worked for Bushman’s in Ossian before taking a job with Precision in New Hampton.
One night, he stopped for a drink at a bar in Fredericksburg, and it was the best decision of his life. The bartender who served him was Tiffany Harnisch, and let’s just say, for Sean, it was practically love at first sight. The two began dating, and on June 11, 2016, the two were married at the United Methodist Church in Fredericksburg. They have two sons – 3-year-old Duncan and 2-year-old Beau – and family meant everything to Sean.
He took a job at Rick’s Tire Service so that he’d have more time with Tiffany and the boys, and he continued to take odd jobs to support his family. The Slicks bought a farm place southeast of Fredericksburg, and it was a little slice of heaven on earth for Sean. He worked on his construction projects, he rode his horses and he treasured the time he had with Tiffany, Duncan, and Beau; in fact, his two little boys were already following in their daddy’s footsteps, learning about engines, how they worked, and how their daddy fixed them.
Sean was, to put it simply, a family man who understood the importance of a hard day’s work and providing for his loved ones. He loved his wife, adored his children, and was just about the best uncle you could have. Sean is gone much too soon, but he touched a lot of lives in his 32 years here and leaves a legacy that will not be forgotten.Sean is survived by his loving wife, Tiffany Slick of Fredericksburg, IA; his two pride and joys, Duncan Slick of Fredericksburg, IA, Beau Slick of Fredericksburg, IA; parents Loren and Carmela Slick of New Hampton, IA; siblings, Steven (Jess Patterson) Slick of New Hampton, IA, Samantha (Anton Tomash) Slick of Alta Vista, IA, Shain (Lisa Jorgensen) Slick of Waterloo, IA; grandmother, Donna Kolbet of Osage, IA; mother-in-law, Tracy (Dale) Flugge of Fredericksburg, IA; father-in-law, Don Kilcher of Fredericksburg, IA; three sisters-in-law, Karli (Zach) Zeien of Waucoma, IA, Cassie (Shafer Phillips) Kilcher of Jacksonville, NC; Samantha Peyton of Belleville, IL; two brothers-in-law, Tim (Colletta) Harnisch of Elgin, IA, Chad (Meagan) Peyton of Randalia, IA; family friend, Elaine Thein; along with several uncles, aunts, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather Louis Kolbet, paternal grandparents Richard and Barbara Slick; uncle Rick Slick, aunt Sue Kolbet, and aunt Gloria Slick.
