If the opinion of Turkey Valley coach Ethan Adams counted, there would be another team in the Class 3A rankings.
“I know New Hampton is not in the pre-season rankings, but I look for them to be there pretty soon,” he said after his Trojan girls were defeated by the Chickasaws 3-0.
“We knew coming in what we would be up against. All we can do is our best and I’m proud of our girls for their fight.”
New Hampton started the night at Turkey Valley with a 3-0 win over Kee High, then took a break to watch the Trojans battle Kee. In the evening finale, the Chickasaw girls won 3-0 over the Trojans.
The night gave coach Jess Geerts ample opportunity to give girls playing time. Against Kee, 16 girls saw action as New Hampton won 25-8, 25-4, 25-13.
“We got a lot of serving in,” Geerts said while Kee and Turkey Valley were playing. “We got a chance to hit our spots and redeemed ourselves from last Thursday.”
