Rebounding quite nicely

Lead Summary

The little things added up to one big thing for the New Hampton football team Friday night.
Thanks to its resiliency, a stretch of the ball, a “demo team” that put together a great week of practice and a vital intangible called togetherness, the Chickasaws put their opening week heartbreak behind them to beat Charles City 25-23 in a wildly entertaining non-district game.
“All of us on our coaching staff are proud of our team’s effort and the way they stayed together,” New Hampton coach Scott Frerichs said. “When you consider we were without our starting quarterback and coming off a tough loss, I loved the way they stuck together. … This group of boys has pretty good team chemistry and you saw that Friday.”
