Quartet of Chickasaws honored in softball

Lead Summary

Three New Hampton seniors and a freshman comprised the Northeast Iowa All-Conference softball teams in 2020.
All four of the Chickasaw standouts that helped guide first-year head coach Lisa Rude’s squad to a 6-8 overall record and 5-7 league finish had little to zero varsity experience.
That makes their accomplishments out on the diamond this summer all the more impressive.
“We had very, very little varsity experience coming in. The class before them started for three years and there was like eight or nine of them. It didn’t afford them a lot of opportunity,” said Rude.
Headlining this year’s team for New Hampton was senior second baseman Kacey Olson, who garnered first team all-league recognition. Olson smashed the softball this season with three dingers, 13 RBI and hit to an outstanding clip of .424. Her glove work also provided the Chickasaws with a steady presence on the infield.
Making the second team were seniors Kiersten Tenge and Rachel Rinken while freshman Ali Russler was named honorable mention.
