One heck of a spirited run

Seven days before, New Hampton/Turkey Valley hadn’t come close to either Crestwood or Charles City.
But there were the Chickasaws on Saturday in Decorah, making a valiant effort to extend their dual season before coming up just short with a third-place finish at the Class 2A sectional tournament.
A week after finishing 40 points behind the Comets at the Northeast Iowa Conference tournament, New Hampton/Turkey Valley showed dramatic improvement and cut the deficit to 9.5 points but it wasn’t enough to give the Chickasaws a sixth straight trip to the regional duals.
