Offseason means plenty of work for pro baseball pitcher

Even though he finished his first season as a professional baseball player in August, the training Cole McDonald has to do during the off-season is still a full-time job.
The former New Hampton and University of Iowa baseball star completed his rookie campaign with solid numbers, boasting an earned run average of 2.59 and an opponent batting average of just .198 in 24.1 innings of work during his time with the Tri-City ValleyCats — the Houston Astros Class A Short Season affiliate.
In his time with Tri-City, McDonald normally had his mornings free before having to report around 12 or 1 p.m. each day. He didn’t have a car, but the practice facility was just a ten minute walk away.
