NH, N-P FB alumni carry success to the college level

Lead Summary

For the seniors on the Wartburg football team, Saturday marked the final time they will ever compete in front of their home crowd at Zimmerman Field. Two of these seniors include former area high school standouts - Matt Mulford from New Hampton and Jason Fisher from Nashua-Plainfield.
“It was a different feeling because I finally realized that I’m playing possibly one of my last games of football. I was full of excitement and a little sad because it’s almost the end,” Mulford said. “At the same time, I was trying to focus on the game in front of me. As we started playing, it all went to the back of my head and I played as hard as I could like any other game.”
And the Knights had no problem coming out on top in their season finale, as they used a 27-0 first quarter lead to cruise to a 48-7 victory over Loras. With this win, Wartburg ends the regular season with an overall record of 9-1, including 7-1 in American Rivers Conference play.
