New Hampton track athletes get an early start

Lead Summary

New Hampton had never started its track season so early, but all in all, the Chickasaws’ girls coach Jeanette Laures will take it.
The Chickasaws had four top-10 finishes and had a chance to compete against someone besides themselves, which may have been the biggest plus, at an indoor meet hosted by Wartburg College.
“There are pros and cons to going this early,” Laures said. “We usually have our first competition two weeks later than this, so we’re not quite there when it comes to a solid base of conditioning. But having a meet breaks up practice, and that’s a big positive.”
