New Hampton senior signs with Hawkeyes
Attending a University of Iowa football camp after his freshman year of high school changed everything for Noah Fenske.
“Yeah, I was an Iowa State fan at the time,” he admitted after signing his national letter of intent with the Hawkeyes Wednesday morning.
“I could tell by how passionate the coaches at that camp were,” he said. “They were coaching us like we were their own players.”
Fenske also looked at Iowa State before making his decision in March.
“It didn’t go bad,” he said of the visit, “it just didn’t feel like home, like Iowa did. There were times I wondered what other offers there would have been if I hadn’t committed to Iowa, but I’ve always been 100 percent for Iowa since then.”
Fenske was a lineman on both offense and defense for the Chickasaws since his sophomore year. He was named first-team all-district the past three years and earned all-state honors after his junior and senior seasons.
The Chickasaws made the playoffs in both 2016 and 2017 and advanced to the Class 2A state playoff quarterfinals during his junior season.
