New Hampton man has nary a diamond regret

Lead Summary

Even though Alvin “Avey” Johnson is 91 years old, he can still remember in detail the memories of his baseball career — memories that brought him joy as he talked about his playing days.
Johnson is believed to be one of three New Hampton High School alumni to play organized professional baseball — the others being Duane Josephson and Cole McDonald.
Josephson, of course, played in the majors from 1965 to 1972 and was an all-star in 1968 while McDonald is the 2015 New Hampton graduate who pitched at Iowa and was drafted by the Houston Astros this past summer.
