New Hampton learns a lesson in ‘atmosphere’

Lead Summary

New Hampton/Turkey Valley wrestling coach Matt Paulus said the focus of his team heading into the dual against Northeast Iowa Conference rival Charles City was finishing. However, they were unable to do this throughout Thursday evening, as the Comets topped the Chickasaws 50-9.
“We did not perform well. We know we are a better team than we showed,” Paulus said. “Hats off to Charles City, they came out ready to wrestle.”
The highlight for NH/TV came in the lone matchup between ranked individuals. At 195 pounds, Class 2A No. 2 Evan Rosonke squeaked out an 8-7 decision over No. 10 Jack Sindlinger after Rosonke scored a takedown late in the final period.
