Museum is celebrating 6-on-6 hoops

Lead Summary

The Carnegie Cultural Center in New Hampton is doing its part to make sure the history of 6-on-6 girls basketball won’t be forgotten anytime soon.
The museum is collaborating with the University of Iowa Women’s Archives for its latest exhibit, and Carnegie Director Jill Eike is hoping area women will share their stories about the game that made Iowa girls the darlings of the state for so many years.
“We’re asking anyone who played the game to at least fill out a form we have that will go to the Iowa Women’s Archives,” Eike said, “but we also want to hear their stories about the game. It’s a very special part of Iowa history and we want to preserve it.”
