After graduating from the University of Iowa, and marrying his beloved wife, Connie, John's career began as an Air Force officer which led to many travels around the world. He especially enjoyed time spent in Puerto Rico, Thailand, and California. After receiving his MBA from Golden Gate University, the Hermann family settled in Washington DC as dad pursued his career with US Postal Service Headquarters. John was a proud husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend. He will be remembered for his strong will to live with a song, a political opinion or witty joke always ready. Family was the greatest joy for John. He was proud of his wife Connie Munson Hermann, preceded in death, and survived by his daughter, Anne Anderson and son in law, Eric Anderson; along with his grandchildren, John Leonard, Kathryn Connie and Caroline Grace; his daughter, Elizabeth Davis, his sister, Linda Anderson and her husband, Steve; his sister-in-law and husband, Patricia and Richard Crawford; and brother-in-law and wife, Robert and Patricia Munson; his Great Uncle and Aunt, Joe and Ruth Finch; numerous nieces and nephews, and multitudes cousins. One source of comfort to the family is the knowledge that John is reunited with Connie, who he has missed terribly for the past 12 years.
