Huskies rue one that got away

Even a day later, the loss was sticking in Nashua-Plainfield coach Al Frost’s proverbial craw.
“That’s a meet we have to figure out how to win,” Frost said Friday, the day after watching his team build a 21-6 lead only to fall to Forest City 37-36. “It was a good meet, and we didn’t wrestle that bad, but we didn’t win the swing matches and we gave up too many bonus points and didn’t get as many as we needed.”
So while the Huskies went on to rout both North Union and Rockford, Frost was frustrated.
“It was real disappointing,” he said, “and we talked to the guys about it right after. Don’t get me wrong, Forest City doesn’t have a bad team and they did a lot of bumping around to try to win it. But that’s one I think all of us want back.”
Early on against the Indians, the Huskies appeared in control. Derik Downing got a pin at 170, Evan Kalainoff (182) and Justice Palmier (195) both received forfeits and Dalton Asche picked up a decision at 220.
After Forest City cut the deficit to 21-18, Jakob Whitinger picked up a fall at 113 and Trey Nelson won a 6-0 decision at 120 to push the advantage to 30-18. But Forest City won the next four matches to clinch the meet before Dylan Downing to a pin at a 152 to end the meet.
