High school coaches not happy with football news

Lead Summary

Scott Frerichs didn’t pull any punches; the veteran New Hampton football coach isn’t happy with the Iowa High School Athletic Association.
“As football coaches in the state, we wanted to go back to a 32-team playoff,” he said. “It’s closer to what they do in other sports, it gives teams more to play for and it’s a real source of motivation.”
The IHSAA had said in 2018, the last time it redistricted that it wanted to get away from playoff quarterfinal teams having to play four games — the final regular season game and the first three playoff games — in a span of just 15 days.
