Great problem to have!

Lead Summary

Chase Sudol has a problem – and that’s a good thing.
With a whopping 37 kids out for his Nashua-Plainfield boys track team this spring – it’s going to be a challenge to find spots in the lineup for all his up and coming Husky runners, throwers and jumpers that are eager to stretch their legs in 2021.
Or Huskies that will hop over hurdles, vault over a high jump bar or shove a shot put.
“We have tons of talent, it’s just going to be finding what their specialties are and going from there and building from that,” said Sudol. “It’ll be fun.”
That much is certain as the simple fact of just being allowed to participate in actual meets should make for some stellar marks made on or around the oval this March, April and May.
“It’s a win-win for everybody. These kids want to compete and get better and win,” said Sudol. “They realize how fortunate they are just to be out here and competing again.”
His Huskies are back out on the track this year after 2020 was wiped out due to the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic that forced the cancellation of the spring sports season in Iowa.
That means many new faces, mixed in with talented veterans, that has raised the bar at N-P and could lead to team finishes that may be near the top of the team standings.
“It’s just a lot of unknown because it’s been two years since any of these kids have ran,” said Sudol. “I have high expectations for our team this year. I hope to do things that we haven’t done in several years here.”
Sudol is starting his fifth year at the helm of the Husky track program. N-P ran at the Dickinson Relays at the UNI-Dome on Tuesday. That will be the lone indoor meet for the Huskies in March. N-P’s first outdoor meet is at St. Ansgar on Tuesday, March 30.
