Gorgeous!
By looking at the scores — both team and individual — no one would know New Hampton’s boys were golfing in their first meet of the season last Friday. Or that they had very limited time even on a golf course so far this year. “Wednesday was our first time on the course,” said coach Bill Glenn. “And we were on it Thursday, then Friday we had a meet.” And while the ideal weather may have had a factor in the low scores, the 156 the Chickasaws beat Charles City with tied their season low last year for a 9-hole meet. The Comets turned in a 168 for the day. “That’s a pretty good score for us to do right out of the chute,” Glenn noted. “But the thing I was most excited about — and the kids agreed — was that there’s lots of room for improvement.” That may be true, but in the season opener six Chickasaws shot either below their personal record, tied it or went one over.
