Girls advance to regional finals Monday

Lead Summary

At the moment, New Hampton’s girls — after running the table at the first round of regional golf and winning handily over their seven opponents — are tied for the school record of most wins in a season at 36.      The title advances the Chickasaws to the regional final with a 36-0 record. In 2015 after the state tournament, that team was 36-3.      Coach Eric Olson divulged that information to this year’s team. “Maybe for a minute they said, ‘hey, cool,’ but then it was ‘OK, that’s going to get broken Monday.’ If we’re not down in Panorama, they’ll be sorely disappointed.”      Panorama is the site of the state tourney, but first the Chickasaws will have to finish either first or second in the four-team regional final Monday.      They took the first step this Monday as they won the regional first round at Manchester by 37 strokes over Waukon, 347-384.  Results of the meet may be found in the May 19 Tribune.
