Final minute heartbreak

Lead Summary

The stats said New Hampton won this game; the scoreboard, unfortunately, didn’t as the Chickasaws saw an 18-7 lead evaporate in a 22-18 loss to Aplington-Parkersburg Friday night.
New Hampton outgained the Falcons 426-246 and held Aplington-Parkersburg to nine measly rushing yards, but four drives into the red zone provided zilch for points, penalties at the wrong time proved costly and New Hampton lost the turnover battle 2-0.
“We kind of let this one get away,” New Hampton coach Scott Frerichs said. “We really outplayed them and I think we all know we should have won this ballgame.”
