Fans get their money’s worth
There may have been just a moment or two of sadness after the Chickasaw 3-1 loss to Waverly-Shell Rock Tuesday night, but it didn’t last long. It was senior night at the school, and it was a good volleyball match. As the seniors — including Callie Speltz, Kaelyn Ambrose, Kallie Olson, Isabel Leichtman, Barbara Schwickerath, Bailey Knowlton, Marcy Uglum and Savannah Anderson — hugged their teammates, fans and parents after the match, Ambrose talked about the loss to the Class 4A, third-ranked Go-Hawks. The Chickasaw senior just finished with a career-high 16 kills to lead the team. She was on. “I have been struggling this season, and the fact I came to play against a Waverly-Shell Rock team everyone wants to beat.....it just makes it that much more of an accomplishment,” said Ambrose. “I was just happy I hit the spots I was going for.” Three of the four sets were close, including an opening 25-23 Chickasaw win. Early in that match an Anderson kill put the Chickasaws up by five, 11-6, but the Go-Hawks came back to tie at 14, then went ahead 17-15.
