Estella "Stella" Bergeson age 95 of Lawler, IA, died Thursday, July 11, 2019, at Linn Haven Rehab and Healthcare in New Hampton.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, July 16, 2019, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church, Lawler with Rev. Aaron Junge celebrating the Mass. Interment will be in the church cemetery.
Friends may greet the family 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church where there will be a 4:00 p.m. parish scripture service. Visitation continues an hour prior to the Mass at the church.

Estella “Stella” Margaret Bergeson was born March 24, 1924, the daughter of Andrew and Maude (Sheridan) Lensing. She received her education in rural schools. She was a 1941 graduate of the Lawler High School.
Stella married Lester Bergeson of West Union, on April 15, 1952, at Our Lady of Mt. Carmel Catholic Church in Lawler. To this union one son, John was born.
Stella received her teaching degree from the Fayette Teachers College. Her teaching experience began in Stapleton Township in 1942, later Jackson Junction, Lawler Public School, Little Turkey, Our Lady of Mt. Carmel and Fort Atkinson. She also taught CCD Classes in Lawler. She enjoyed all her students and had a passion for teaching. She also was a substitute teacher in New Hampton, St. Lucas, Festina, Calmar, and Spillville. Later she worked for Chips Ballroom.
Her beloved Lester died in 1989. Stella began working for the Jackson Golf Course after his passing and thoroughly enjoyed meeting all the members. She was an active member of the Lady of Mt. Carmel Church, Rosary Society, C.D. of A., Legion Auxiliary and a longtime cook for the funeral dinners at the church.
Stella enjoyed helping others and especially loved spending time with her family. Her grandsons were the light of her life.
Stella is survived by her son, John (Marilyn) Bergeson of Waucoma; three grandsons, James Bergeson of Waucoma, Jay Bergeson (Jenny Gebel) of New Hampton and Joseph (Brianna) Bergeson of Waucoma; great-grandson, Bently Joseph Bergeson; niece, Charlotta Ann (Ray) Blong of Waucoma; nephew, Andy Meyer of Fredericksburg; sister in law, Teresa Lensing of New Hampton.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Lester on July 16, 1989; sister, Anna Mary Meyer; brothers, John and Joseph Lensing.
