Crazy winter just got a little nuttier for N-P

Lead Summary

Making “the call” to postpone a basketball game or a wrestling meet is a little more complicated than people think.  Just ask Josh Smith, the Nashua-Plainfield activities director who also coaches the Huskies’ girls basketball team.  If the event is a road one, Smith’s first call is to Nashua-Plainfield Transportation Director Lynn Lantow, and then he and his fellow ADs begin working on finding a suitable makeup date, which in a winter like this one, is becoming more and more difficult to find.  Officials have to be lined up, and more often than not, those slated to work the original game are already booked on the makeup night. The same goes for those working the clock and the ticket booth.  “This isn’t meant to sound like I’m complaining,” Smith said, “but there’s a lot of that goes into it. The majority of ADs in our conference are usually doing this on top of coaching and teaching so it gets pretty busy.”  And it’s been downright hectic this year.  For the full story, please see the Jan. 19 Reporter.
