Chickasaws handle Crestwood star in semifinal sweep

Lead Summary

Crestwood’s Sharon Goodman has been a nightmare for opposing teams to face all season when in the front row. Coming into the regional semifinal match at New Hampton on Tuesday, she had racked up 349 kills.
However, when she isn’t the front row, the Cadets aren’t the same team. The Chickasaws took advantage of this on their way to sweeping their Northeast Iowa Conference rival 3-0.
“When their stud (Goodman) was in the back row, we had to make sure that we served well to keep her out of the front row for as long as possible,” coach Jess Geerts said. “I’m not going to lie, I was pretty nervous coming into tonight because we know how good she can play, but the girls handled it well.”
