Chickasaws go 4-2, take third at NEIC
Rachel Rinken lowered her voice after the Northeast Iowa Conference volleyball tournament concluded and looked around. She wanted to make sure no one heard her talk about a certain team. "We did get a little tired at the end and it slows you down a little," she said after she helped the Chickasaws to a third-place finish in the tourney. "As long as your intensity is up, you're good to go. You play a team like Waverly-Shell Rock or Charles City it goes up, like, fast, but a team like _____, I think it goes down a bit." The name of that team will remain our secret. The Chickasaws finished third in the tourney, beating the teams they've beaten before and losing to the ones they've lost to before. New Hampton started the day with 2-0 wins over Decorah, Waukon and Crestwood. The Chickasaws had beaten all those teams 3-0 during the conference season. The win over the Vikings featured a perfect team performance at the serving line, 41-for-41, including 16-for-16 from Kerigan Tenge, who aced four times.
