Chickasaws fall to No. 1 Waukon

Lead Summary

Scott Frerichs is never going to like a loss — especially a blowout one — yet New Hampton’s veteran football coach found some positives Friday night despite the fact that the Chickasaws were on the wrong end of a 38-6 score with Waukon.
“They are the No. 1 team in the state for a reason,” Frerichs said of the Indians, “and we have plenty to work on, but one of the things I really like about this team is that they stick together. … You saw that [tonight], they don’t gripe, they don’t get on each other. They go to the next play.”
And for a half, New Hampton hung in there with Waukon.
