Chickasaw girls golf coach up for national award

Lead Summary

When Eric Olson took over as the head coach of the New Hampton girls golf team in 2011, his goal was to turn what was a struggling program into a competitive one.
“I decided to take the girls golf job after being the boys assistant for five years for the challenge of rebuilding the program,” Olson said. “The girls that I had worked with over the years were all very coachable, and I felt that I could have a tremendous influence on their golf games and improve the program.”
He did that and so much more, as New Hampton has become one of the more elite schools within the state of Iowa in girls golf.
