Celebrating the seniors
Some day in the near future Hope McDonald plans on donning a white coat and helping expectant mothers deliver their babies.
The Chickasaw senior has her sights set on attending the University of Iowa after high school graduation, majoring in human physiology and one day becoming an OB/GYN doctor.
In the meantime, the talented New Hampton spiker is just trying to help her volleyball team rack up some wins early on in the 2020 season.
McDonald helped fuel New Hampton’s first conference win of the year on Senior Night Tuesday in a four-set victory over Crestwood - 22-25, 25-10, 25-10, 25-22.
McDonald paced New Hampton (6-4, 1-1) with six kills and was stellar in the serving department as she went 14-15 serving with four aces against the overmatched Cadets. She talked about how time flies and how quickly her final year as a Chickasaw is upon her.
“It definitely feels like freshman year was last year and I can’t believe I’m a senior already,”said McDonald, who is four-sport standout for New Hampton in volleyball, basketball, softball and track.
McDonald is one of 14 seniors on New Hampton’s roster that were honored on Tuesday for Chickasaw head coach Jess Geerts, who has guided New Hampton to three-straight regional finals and a 2018 state tournament berth.
