One can only imagine the excitement in New Hampton 100 years ago as residents watched the city’s first hospital go up.And next year — Aug. 4-6 to be exact — Mercy Medical Center-New Hampton officials hope to duplicate that buzz when the hospital will celebrate its 100th birthday.“When you read some of the things that were written back in 1916 and 1917, you realize what a big deal a hospital was for our city,” said Jennifer Monteith, the hospital’s development and public relations coordinator. “It was a huge deal, and we think 100 years later, we need to celebrate in a big way.”So for three days next summer, the hospital will celebrate “A Healing Presence for 100 Years.”For the complete story see the 10/28/2016 New Hampton Tribune.
