Blazek wins Trent Smith Invitational

Lead Summary

After setting a personal record by over a minute in her first meet of the 2019 campaign last week, Turkey Valley’s Jalyssa Blazek continued her hot start to the season at the Trent Smith Invitational in Charles City on Thursday. She was the champion in the 9-10 girls’ division of the 62 runners who participated and set a new personal best mark at 20:27.
“Winning the race is a great accomplishment,” Blazek said. “It was a difficult race to run, and I did well given all the hills. I also bettered my time for the season.”
This meet that the Trojans particpated in is unqiue because there are no team standings, and instead of there being varsity and junior varsity races, it is split up amongst age groups with juniors/seniors accounting for one division and freshman/sophomores making up the other.
