Battling to the end

Lead Summary

Don’t get Justin Eiffler wrong, the Nashua-Plainfield boys basketball coach didn’t want his team’s season to end last Thursday night.  Yet, the Husky coach could not have been more proud of the way his team played in a 57-40 loss to seventh-ranked Don Bosco in a Class 1A district quarterfinal game that night.  “I really loved our effort tonight,” he said. “We ran and did things exactly the way I was hoping. It’s just that Bosco is a very good team.”  The Dons came into the game with a 20-1 record, yet for most of the first half, the Huskies stayed within striking distance.  Don Bosco built a 19-10 first quarter lead and led by 10, 27-17, at halftime, yet in Eiffler’s mind, it could have been much closer save for a tough night shooting the basketball.  “We were getting the looks that we wanted, and they just weren’t falling tonight,” he said.  The rest of the story may be found in the Feb. 23 Reporter.
