Trip ends Lady Trojan season

Lead Summary

Against a team like sixth-ranked Tripoli, kills are hard to come by and so are aces. But the Turkey Valley girls put what was nearly their best serving effort of the season into a loss at Tripoli Monday night in regional action.    The 3-0 loss ended the year for the Trojans and it was the sixth year in a row the Panthers ended it. Every one of those six years Tripoli advanced to the state tourney and a couple of those years they won the Class 1A title.    In the first set against Trip, Turkey Valley kept it close, losing only by five points, 25-20.        “The girls played very well and were at the peak of their game,” said coach Tammy Vrzak.    The next two sets were also losses, 25-14 and 25-11. The Panthers, who lead an Iowa Star North Conference — which includes top-ranked Janesville — in aces and aces per set, drilled 19 of them against the Lady Trojans.  More on the story may be found inthe Oct. 28 Tribune.
