Storm leaves trail of damage in Nashua area

Lead Summary

A fast-moving storm that moved through the Nashua area late Saturday night and early Sunday morning packed a powerful punch.Winds gusting as high as 60 miles per hour left a number of property owners dealing with downed limbs, but law enforcement officials said no one was injured despite the fact that Water Over the Dam Days activities were still going on at Cedar View Park. The storm moved into the area around 11:30 p.m. on Saturday, and just south of Nashua, the National Weather Service reported that 1.67 inches of rain fell.Numerous trees, especially along Lexington Avenue and Madison Street, were damaged by the storm that hit areas south of Nashua especially hard. The good news is that this week’s forecast, save for the chance of thunderstorms today [Thursday], is almost perfect as highs are expected to be in the 70s and lows in the 50s and low 60s through the weekend.
