Water everywhere

It began raining in Chickasaw County around 6:30 p.m. Tuesday and in some parts of the county, the rain didn’t stop falling until 3:30 a.m. Wednesday.But it will take weeks — if not months — for the area to recover from what will be known as the Flood of 2016.A “train” of thunderstorms dumped torrential rainfall throughout most of the county, but the storms were especially severe in the northern half of the county, where residents reported dumping between 6 and 7 inches from their rain gauges.New Hampton officially received 3.71 inches of rain, according to the National Weather Service, and it got off lightly.For the complete story see the 8/26/2016 New Hampton Tribune.
