Utterly dominating
Drew Boeding looked around the gym one last time and flashed a big smile. “To end it like this at home — both as a team and for me individually — it can’t get much better than that,” the New Hampton senior said after New Hampton crushed the field in Tuesday night’s regional duals. “I loved the big crowd, being under the spotlight and getting a chance to go back to state,” he said. “And now we’re going to work hard and go try and win that state title next week.” If Tuesday night was any indication, the top-ranked Chickasaws will be primed and ready for state. New Hampton crushed Osage 64-16 in its opening meet and then blanked Algona 76-0 for the regional title to earn a trip to Des Moines for a third consecutive year. The Chickasaws are the top seed for next Wednesday’s state dual tournament and will start their quest for a state title at 9 a.m. when they wrestle Denver-Tripoli.
