TV rolls by another ranked foe

Ssshhh, don't anyone tell Turkey Valley's football team that ninth-ranked Central Elkader isn't in their district.  Don't tell quarterback Cody Hackman, who passed for two touchdowns, ran for two more and, while on defense, intercepted three passes.  Don't tell Wyatt Blazek — he rushed for 100 yards, ran in one touchdown and caught a Hackman pass for another.  While the 42-20 Turkey Valley win on Central's Homecoming doesn't count toward the district standings, it mattered to the third-ranked Trojans.  "It was great," said Blazek after the win. "To come to their house and take it to them — it's about time."  The last two years Elkader and Turkey Valley were in the same district, and the Warrior squad was the only barrier that kept the Trojans from a district title.  In fact, in the last two years, Turkey Valley only lost to three teams: Riceville — a team they handily defeated  earlier this season, Central and Don Bosco. Last week Central snapped a 40-game regular-season winning streak by the Dons, who fell from their No. 1 ranking.  But Central was the team to score first Friday night against the Trojans. Using a no-huddle offense, they scored on their first possession and the Trojans trailed 6-0. Turkey Valley came back with a Hackman-to-Blazek touchdown connection for 36 yards, and when Hackman threw to Will Einwalter for the conversion, the Trojans would not trail again.The rest of the story may be found in the Oct. 4 Tribune.
