Trojans rally late to stay unbeaten

Calling someone a beast isn’t generally a compliment, but that was Chris Sullivan’s intent when he gave the label to Ethan Leibold.
Just a sophomore, Leibold set the bar pretty high when he set two career highs — 26 points and 17 rebounds —  in a 56-52 win over Postville Friday night.
But it took a comeback effort to bring the Trojan record to 4-0. After a see-saw first half, the Trojans trailed 28-25 and at the end of three they were down 42-34.
“We were a step slow in the first half, didn’t do a good job anticipating things and turned the ball over way too much,” coach Chris Sullivan said. “At halftime we talked to the kids about coming up with more loose balls and outhustling them and we made some adjustments with our defense.”
It took until the fourth quarter to get the troops to rally, but they outscored the Pirates 22-10 in the final stanza.
“We started knocking down shots, did a nice job of finding the open guy and we gathered momentum and it was all generated from our defensive energy which sparked our offense,” said the coach.
