Summer ends with a bang in Nashua
Summer has now officially ended with school in session, Labor Day over, the temperatures falling in the evening and the Townhouse hosting the End of Summer Party. Many came out who wanted to join together as a community and enjoy one of the last nice weekends of summer playing bags and enjoying each other’s company while listening to the new band in the area. The Icebreakers played on Main Street Saturday evening and the new band consists of Jay Connor on vocals, T.J. Saul on drums, Bill Guernsey on bass and Dan Schuerman on guitar. Even though this area band has only been playing gigs since June they have been having marathon practices on the weekends to get ready for the public appearances. The Icebreakers have enjoyed playing this summer at Mary Lou’s Bar and Grill, Slice, Parlor City Pub and Eatery, Rock-n-Row Adventures in Eldora, Cedar Falls Live to 9, Bottoms Up, Dike’s Watermelon Days and Screaming Eagle. It was four guys who played in previous bands, love music and decided they still wanted to play so they came together through mutual friends to share their love of music and entertaining.“I’m excited about playing in my hometown,” said Connor. He continued explaining how the town of Nashua has not had a street dance on Main Street for years and the public wanted one so The Icebreakers and The Townhouse joined forces to hold the End of Summer Party.“We wanted an end of a summer party that everyone could enjoy before it started getting cold,” said Shayla Merfeld. There were many who mentioned the town of Nashua has not had a street dance for years so the Merfeld’s decided to start planning.Great music, bags, food and fun for all to enjoy and a great way to end the summer before the colder weather hits Iowa again.
