On New Hampton’s football roster, Keaton Geerts is listed at 5-foot-7 and 153 pounds.Folks, size isn’t everything in high school football.Geerts ran for 194 yards on 23 carries and scored four touchdowns to help second-ranked New Hampton roll to a Class 2A, District 2 42-14 win over winless Hampton-Dumont.“He may not be that traditional speedster,” New Hampton coach Scott Frerichs said, “but he’s quick and really shifty out there. He showed a nice knack to get to the hole.”And while Geerts may get a little grief about his size, he thinks at times it works to his advantage.“I think sometimes they have a hard time finding me because I can hide behind Kam [Pfaffle] and [Noah] Hopp,” Geerts said. “The guys got off the ball every single time and gave me some nice holes.
