Chickasaws fall to No. 1 Waukon

Scott Frerichs is never going to like a loss — especially a blowout one — yet New Hampton’s veteran football coach found some positives Friday night despite the fact that the Chickasaws were on the wrong end of a 38-6 score with Waukon.

Lot to shout about

It was a highly anticipated matchup between two ranked teams to start Northeast Iowa Conference play, as Class 3A No. 9 New Hampton took on Class 4A 15th ranked Charles City last Tuesday.

Something to build on

There are question marks, no doubt about it, but veteran New Hampton football coach Scott Frerichs liked a lot of the answers he saw when his Chickasaws traveled to Decorah this past Friday for their annual scrimmage with the Vikings.

Small but mighty

Turkey Valley’s cross country teams won’t show up in the team standings this year, but it’s a good bet that the Trojans will make some noise when it comes to the individual standings at meets.
