Sheriff’s department hires new county deputy
The Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department just grew by one with the addition of Adam Hanson to the team. Hanson grew up in New Hampton and after acquiring his degree from Hawkeye Community College he took a position at the Nashua Police Department in 2004 where he stayed for six and a half years.Looking to grow in his field, in January of 2011 he left the police department for a spot as a deputy with the Howard County Sheriff’s Office“I grew up around sheriff’s deputies with my dad being friends with one and began to get an itch to do it myself,” said Hanson.He attended the academy in Waterloo and became certified in the spring of 2005.Overtime Hanson has also received instructor certifications as well including being a field sobriety instructor and a fire arms instructor.He said he has always kept in contact with the sheriff’s department in Chickasaw County and is still familiar with the area from still having family live here.“We’ve always had a good relationship,” said Hanson about the sheriff departments. “They are easy to keep in touch with and work with.”Hanson is excited to get back to the community that he grew up in and sees this change as a chance to come back home. He officially started with the department on June 24.In his free time, Hanson and his wife keep busy keeping up with their three boys and Hanson enjoys doing construction work. He has also been active in Figure 8 racing and hopes to move to circle track racing when his car gets done.
