Play itself is only part of the fun
Sydney Lau delivered the line and then couldn’t help but laugh.“That’s preposterous,” she said on stage as she joined her fellow “The Trial of the Wicked Witch” cast members on stage and was met with eerie silence.“And it is preposterous because that’s not my line.”Her friends and her director couldn’t help but laugh. Yes, the first “live performance” of the play was less than 24 hours away, but a good line is a good line.“Is it stressful? Yes, definitely, but it’s also so much fun to work with these kids,” said Melissa Nelson, the New Hampton art teacher who is in her second year as the school’s Drama Department director. “The stuff they come up with is amazing, and so is the amount of work they put into their plays.”Students performed the comedy for New Hampton Middle School and St. Joseph Community School students on Thursday afternoon and the curtain goes up for the community on Saturday and Sunday.The play’s plot centers around the Wicked Witch standing trial in the Court of Once Upon a Time.For the complete story see the 11/11/2016 New Hampton Tribune.
