One bad quarter costs N-P dearly

For 36 minutes and 57 seconds, the Nashua-Plainfield football team was right there with Mason City Newman last Friday.  But it was an 11-minute, three-second burst by the Knights that proved the difference in a 40-12 victory.  “Newman’s a good team, don’t get me wrong, but that second quarter was just tough on us,” Nashua-Plainfield coach Chad Sudol said after his team fell to 3-5 overall and 2-4 in Class A, District 3 play. “We got a little momentum and they grabbed it right back.”  A Mason Hyde 11-yard touchdown run pulled Nashua-Plainfield within 7-6 early in the second quarter, but on Newman’s first play from scrimmage on the ensuing possession, Peyton Scott raced 65 yards, starting a 26-point onslaught that gave newman a 33-6 halftime lead.  The rest of the story may be found in the Oct. 21 Reporter.
