Delores K. Weigel, age 98 of New Hampton, passed away on Friday, Oct. 1, 2021 at New Hampton Nursing and Rehab with her family by her side.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:30 a.m. on Monday, Oct. 4, 2021 at Holy Family Parish with Father Brian Dellaert celebrating. Burial will take place at Calvary Cemetery in New Hampton following the funeral mass.

Visitation will be held from 4-7 p.m. on Sunday, Oct. 3, 2021 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton with a 7 p.m. Scriptural Wake Service. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass on Monday. Online condolences may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com. Memorials may be directed to the family.

Delores Kathryn was born Dec. 21, 1922, the daughter of Henry and Elsie (Heiselman) Cutsforth in New Hampton. After graduating from New Hampton High School in the class of 1941, Delores furthered her education by attending teacher’s school at Upper Iowa University. She returned to her home area and taught country school at Jacksonville Township. On April 12, 1945, Delores was united in marriage to Joseph “Joe” Weigel in Hugo, Oklahoma while Joe was in the service. The couple returned to New Hampton to raise their children, Dianne and Terry. On June 16, 1949, Joe died unexpectedly in an accident. On Nov. 6, 1952, Delores was united in marriage to Gerald Weigel at St. Joseph Catholic Church in New Hampton. The couple welcomed their daughter, Shirley “Duce.” Delores worked at St. Joseph Hospital in the Laboratory and eventually worked as a cook for the New Hampton School District until her retirement. Delores loved caring for her family! She enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking and especially visiting with family and friends. Her faith was very strong and she raised her family to have the same faith!

Delores is deeply missed by her children, Dianne Wilson, Terry (Pat) Weigel and Duce (Ovey) Johnson all of New Hampton; her grandchildren, Jim Wilson of Kensett, Dave (Jamie) Wilson of New Hampton, Mike (Shanna) Wilson of Mountain Grove, Missouri, Amy (Larry) Laures of Alta Vista, Carrie (Luke) Baldwin of Jesup, Joe (Barb) Weigel of Cedar Falls, Matt (Lourdes) Johnson of Wielerbach, Germany and Jennifer (Wes) Busch of Rochester, Minnesota; 19 great grandchildren; one great-great granddaughter; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death her parents; her two husbands, Joe and Gerald Weigel; her great granddaughter, Lynn Laures; siblings, Ruth Frese, Madonna Miller, and Dorothy Junko and her in-laws.
