New Mercy doctors like the fit
The two newest doctors at Mercy Medical Center-New Hampton know moving to New Hampton gives them a unique opportunity. And Drs. Nathan and Heather Harms are extremely grateful to be here.“I’m not saying this doesn’t happen anywhere else,” Nathan said, “but to be afforded the opportunity to do the mission work we’re going to be able to do ... that’s pretty rare.”But it was also pretty important to the married couple, who met in medical school and completed a three-year residency program in Grand Junction, Colo., this summer.“For us, it was a selling point,” Heather said of the chance to spend three months a year working at a soon-to-be-completed hospital in Guatemala as part of DOCS for Hope, “but so, too, was New Hampton. We felt very welcome here from the start.”The two new doctors were hired this past spring and began work at Mercy Family Clinic on Wednesday, ending odysseys that began in a small city in Kansas and Omaha, Neb., before their two stories merged into one at medical school and will now carry on in New Hampton. The husband is from Kansas — Derby, to be exact — while the wife is from Omaha. For the complete story see the 10/11/2016 New Hampton Tribune.
