Neil Jones dies at 75

Neil Jones, age 75 of New Hampton, passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at his home with his wife by his side.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, May 31, 2017 at Holy Family Parish in New Hampton, with Father Brian Dellaert celebrating the mass.  Burial will be at Moody Cemetery in McGregor.
Visitation will be held from 4 to 7 p.m. on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 at Conway-Markham Funeral Home in New Hampton with a 4:30 p.m. Rosary and a 7 p.m. Scriptural Wake Service. Visitation will continue at the church one hour prior to the funeral mass on Tuesday.  Online condolences for Neil’s family may be left at www.conway-markhamfh.com.  Memorials may be directed to the family.
Neil was born on December 8, 1941 to John and Irene (Ryan) Jones in Waukon.  He graduated from Waukon High School in 1960.  After his graduation, Neil attended NITI at Calmar for his plumbing degree.  Neil was self-employed as a master plumber and electrician for many years.  Later, he worked for Hormel in Austin, Minn.  Neil was injured on the job which forced his retirement from Hormel.  He was also an electrician for Featherlite in Cresco.  He was united in marriage to Roxanne Knickerbocker who passed away at an early age.  On February 12, 2000, Neil was united in marriage to Marie Hurd at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in New Hampton.  Neil enjoyed gardening, antiquing, going to Casinos, camping, cooking and baking.  He was a proud member of AA for 35 years.  He and Marie were members of Holy Family Parish in New Hampton.
Neil is survived by his wife, Marie Jones of New Hampton; daughters, Barb (Martin) McManis, Ruth (Alex) Shelton both of Temple, Texas and Lori Jones of Austin, Minn; son, Jermy (Melissa) Jones of Cresco; one brother, Br. Leo Jones of Romneyville, Ill; stepdaughters, Peg (Mark) Mueterthies of Lawler, Jeanne (Joe) Rieks of Iowa Falls, Debbie (Rod) Gossling of Alta Vista; 17 grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; sisters-in-law, Shirley Jones of Wyoming, Iowa and Mary Ann Otting of Waukon. 
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Frank and Wayne; his first wife, Roxanne and stepson, Tom Hurd.
