Moving on

When Kaelyn Ambrose said she thought the best part of Crestwood’s game was their blocking, she didn’t have a computer in front of her, she just knew from hand-to-hand combat against the Cadets.    “They have this girl, she’s a freshman and she didn’t play the first time we met them this year,” said the New Hampton junior. “She’s tall — all she has to do is put her hands up.”    Still, Ambrose was able to get nine kills past the Cadets and Sharon Goodman, who leads the Northeast Iowa Conference in solo blocks this season, despite playing 59 sets to anywhere from 75 to 126 sets for the next nine players.    As a team, the Cadets lead the NEIC in solo blocks.    So the 44 kills the Chickasaws had in their three-set win over the Cadets in the first round of regional action were hard-earned.   For the full story, please see the Oct. 21 Tribune.
