Mary Ann Allen dies at 67

Mary Ann Allen passed away peacefully on March 7, 2017 in Des Moines, surrounded by family.Mary was born March 23, 1949 in Marshalltown, and graduated from Sumner High School in 1967. Mary had a love of helping and caring for others and went on to receive her LPN from NIACC; working at the hospitals in both Cedar Falls and New Hampton. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church in New Hampton.Mary was an avid reader and was rarely found without a book in her hands. Her other joys were spending time with family and friends and bargain hunting with her sister.Mary is survived by her son, Chad Allen; her grandsons, Kyler Allen and Sean Allen; her sister, Chris Anderson; her brother, Bob Allen; her aunt, Martha Gearon; as well as several nephews, cousins and many many friends. She is preceded in death by her parents Robert and Patricia Allen (Moore).As per her wishes Mary was cremated and no service is planned.
